Can you come up with the shortest and scariest story? Using only two sentences, tell a scary story and submit for a chance to win a Malco gift card! Your story can be about anything with a scary twist, suspense, or surprise ending. All ages are encouraged to submit! Turn in a paper copy at Randolph or email Sydney with your story by Monday, October 23rd. Winner will be announced on Monday, October 30th!

In honor of Friends of the Library Week, Whitehaven Library will host the first ever Canned Goods Exchange! Customers and potential new Friends of the Library members will donate 3 can goods in EXCHANGE for half off the year's membership fees! In addition to half off membership, each day during this week when you donate 3 can goods you will receive a special treat for that day!

Joseph Oliver and a variety of skilled professionals conduct weekly classes with customers participating in hands-on repair and learning exercises. Participants will be exposed to the basics of electricity and electronics theory and repair. Registration not necessary and we can start you with the beginners group and work you up to our more advanced group.

The only objective is to put words on paper! Think of this as a NaNoWriMo "write-in," but for those of us who need longer than a year to write a book! Bring a writing project to work on, or start something new. All skill levels welcome. Bring your own laptop, or borrow one of ours, or write on notebook paper. We'll be meeting in the large meeting room, and there will be FREE SNACKS to keep you awake and focused. Meet other writers; share your work and get feedback if you want it. Meetings will be every Monday! Join any time.

Randolph is happy to host Batik Fabric Dyeing class taught by Creative Aging instructor Sarah Nowlin. For learners 55+, this class is a great opportunity to learn a traditional Indonesian fabric dyeing technique. The class is 6 weeks long, every Tuesday, skipping October 10th, and concluding on October 24th. Register at the link below!

Pregnant? New Baby? Memphis NAACP presents MyBaby4Me. This program will offer resources for expecting as well as new mothers.

Use paint markers or a variety of watercolor application techniques to design personalized cards with words of encouragement. Decorate your living space with positive thoughts, give them to loved ones, or keep some in your wallet or backpack for a positive pick-me-up. This program is a recurring single session of the same project. Teens can choose to attend once or come back multiple times to create variations of the art project.

Every Tuesday from 4-5pm come and sharpen your reading skills. This group is for Pre-k to 5th grade.
