Reading Buddies Saturdays: Reading Tutor Program (Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library)

Students in grades k-3 who are needing assistance with reading can join and learn with the assistance of a reading buddy. Reading buddies will assist students will word identification through fun interactive activities. Students will also have an opportunity to read to their buddy as well.
Although we understand participation can very from person to person, we certainly welcome any and as much involvement from a parent/guardian with their child's learning experience.
The sessions for children k-3 are scheduled scheduled to last between 45 minutes to an hour.
Instructors cannot and will not diagnose a child's reading or learning issues.
Instructors/tutors are volunteers who may have a background in teaching, have volunteered in the past as a reading tutor or are training to enter the field of education. Some instructors may have a teaching certificate, but it is not a requirement to volunteer. Our volunteers have a passion for helping others and willing to treat every learner with respect.
