Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library
Join us in the former Graduate Memphis Room in the Lobby of the Central Library for the program, "Is it Dementia?"
The early warning signs of Alzheimer's and other dementias can seem like normal aging. So how do you tell the difference? Whether you are concerned for yourself or for a loved one, learn how dementia affects the brain and changes memory, thinking and behavior. Participants will learn the five key changes in brain function caused by dementia, distinguish between normal and not normal aging, facilitate open communication about cognitive changes, and orient themselves in the role of caregiver.

Civic Saturday @ Cordova Library

10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Cordova Library
Due to the corona virus and the MPL closures, Civic Saturday at Cordova Library has been cancelled.

In a time of deep anxiety, disconnectedness, and political polarization, people need a place to come together in civic community—in a room, face-to-face—to reflect on and rededicate ourselves to the values and practices of being a contributing member in civic life within the United States. Civic Saturday began in Seattle, and is now in over 30 cities across the country.

Civic Saturday gathers friends and strangers together to nurture a spirit of shared purpose. At the gathering we connect around the values and practices of being an active citizen, reckon with and reflect on our nation’s creed, and build relationships that create new civic traditions that are joyful and communal.

Civic Saturday at Cordova Library will take place on 3/28/2020 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.
